Short-Term Programs

Each year the University of Minnesota hosts a number of students for short-term or non-degree seeking programs. Last year, the university hosted approximately 290 international students who were not intending to earn a degree directly from our institution. The University’s short-term or non-degree programs offer several options for students who wish to study with us for less than an entire degree. These programs vary in length from just a few weeks to a single semester or entire academic year. Programs also vary by topic area. Some offer academic credits that can be transferred to your home institution, while some are more recreational in nature. Please see the descriptions below and follow the links to each program’s website to learn more about offerings and eligibility.

  • Exchange and Visiting Students
Earn credit at your home institution through an established exchange program or on an individually arranged basis as a visiting student

  • Study Abroad "GO Minnesota"
Study at the University of Minnesota without an exchange program for one or two semesters
