Application Process

  1. Apply for admission using the online application form*
  2. Pay the application fee: $95 for international applicants
  3. Upload transcripts (including English translations) of all coursework taken from all universities attended
  4. Send English language proficiency test score (see below)

Most programs also require:

  • Letters of recommendation
  • Personal academic statement
  • Test scores (see below)

If you are admitted, you must confirm your intent to enroll and submit a Financial Certification Statement to receive your student visa document (I-20 or DS-2019).

*Professional Degree Program—If applying to a program that is considered a “professional degree,” you should consult your program for any special application requirements.

Test Scores

ENGLISH: Most degree programs require a minimum score of 79 on the internet-based TOEFL, 550 on the paper-based TOEFL, 6.5 on IELTS, or 80 on MELAB. Many programs have higher minimum requirements.

GRE: Most, but not all programs require the GRE test. You should check to see if your program requires the test. There are no minimum scores required for the GRE. See your specific program for an average GRE scores of last year's admitted students (choose your program name and "Statistics" then "Admissions").


Application deadlines vary by program, so you should check with your program to confirm deadlines. The most popular deadlines are in December and January. It is best to apply as early as possible.
