First Year Academic Advice

Getting used to university level academics can be challenging, however, the hardest part about it is the fact that you have been given a whole lot of freedom in a place that can have many distractions so actually finding the time to study is hard. You will always have stuff to do at the U, whether it is hanging out with friends, going to the gym, participating in clubs meeting or just chilling. A good piece of advice is keeping a good schedule of the times you want to study, this could be made depending on your academics necessities week to week. Making sure you do study at these times is solely up to you, but a good strategy is going to a library straight out of class since most students find it easier to focus on the task at hand there. From my experience, I had never gone to a library to study before I came to the U but it ended up being the place where I spent the most time studying. Furthermore, the libraries have tutors free of charge that can help you with topics you might be struggling with in subjects such as math and science.

There’s no secret formula to succeed academically but with time you should be able to figure out what works best for you.
