Unpaid Internship Experience
This semester I was fortunate enough to receive an offer to work in a non-profit organization called Wishes & More. The application process was fairly easy. Two days after I emailed my Cover Letter and Resume to them, I received an offer of a phone-based interview that takes about 30 minutes. During the interview, she asked about my previous volunteering experiences and the reason why I applied for the intern position.
My advice for you guys would be to not panic and tell the truth! Don't lie to appear better, since they would find out eventually. I simply told her my volunteering experiences and my reasons. In the end, she asked me about my class schedule. And that was the moment I have confident of getting this internship.
Interning at Wishes & More is an eye-opening experience for me. The company’s sole purpose is to complete a wish for children who have life-threatened illness. I mainly helped out with the data management sector of the company. This is an excellent ways of building up my career skills.
One take away from an unpaid internship experience is that you need to believe in what you are doing. Even though the position is unpaid, the professional experiences you gained out from interning are valuable for future career.
