Metropolitan areas can be expensive, so it’s always nice to know that there are fun things to do in the Twin Cities that don’t break the bank! Here are a few of the things I like to do and that are all budget friendly:
I really like sports, in particular basketball, and so I always keep an eye out for student night games. The Minnesota Timberwolves (our professional basketball team) has student nights at every Wednesday game. That means that the tickets are only $5 for students! My friends and I go to those a lot during the NBA season. Other sports teams have similar deals, like the Minnesota Twins (baseball), the Minnesota Wild (hockey) and the Minnesota United (soccer). Going to a game with your friends can be a lot of fun, and not at all expensive if you pay attention to these deals!
Minneapolis and Saint Paul are also home to many live music venues. You can easily find events ranging from large, stadium style, concerts (which can get pricey) to small, cozy and inexpensive events in coffee shops or bars. If you like live music, the best thing to do is to get out and explore, you’re bound to find a place you like.
Minnesotans love the outdoors, and so a lot of activities in the warmer months are done outside. There are numerous parks and lakes around the Twin Cities and in Minnesota in general, and one of the coolest things to do in the summer is to go explore them! Minnesota is gorgeous in the summer and going to parks or lakes is a great way to make the most of it.
There are also many different restaurants around the University and in the Twin Cities as a whole, so a great idea is to try them! There are lots of reasonably priced restaurants and, the best part, there are restaurants from numerous cuisines, so trying something new is super easy and fun!
