Hello gophers! If you're living in the residence halls next year (2016-2017) and are excited about promoting health, apply for the Health Advocate position today!
What are Health Advocates? Great question! They are students appointed as health resources in the residence halls, apartments, fraternities and sororities! I was a Health Advocate this year at Sanford Hall and I loved being present as a resource for my peers! I not only gained immense knowledge around the different health issues affecting college students, but also learned the techniques to solve them! It was a perfect opportunity for me to combine my love for health and leadership! In addition to distributing immediate medicines for cough & cold, ibuprofen, bandage, gauze, condoms, pregnancy tests, and so on, they also promote health by sharing prevention stratergies and imprementing health promotion projects! Health advocates are CPR and First Aid certified! I also earned two credits each semester through the School of Public Health!
The application deadline is fast approaching: March 11, 2016! If you're passionate about leadership and health, this is a great opportunity to amalgamae your love for both!
