Red Bull Crashed Ice

Red Bull Crashed Ice is an extreme winter sporting event. This sport is a mix of speed skating and downhill skating. Contestants compete in a track that contains steep turns and insane vertical drops. In each round of competition, four skaters will race to the finish line. The top two skaters from each round will advance to the next round. Ever since the first event in 2001, Red Bull Crashed Ice has grown to a large-scale international winter sport event. This year, the Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championship made its way to St. Paul, Minnesota. I went to the event a few days ago and it did not disappoint me at all. More than 100,000 people gathered around the Cathedral of St. Paul, where a 460-meter long track was built around it. The event started at approximately 6:30pm and there were 16 rounds of heat. It was absolutely breathtaking to see those contestants racing down the steep track, carefully avoiding obstacles along their way. I did not stay until the finals because it was pretty cold out, and my boots were completely covered in mud. Regardless, it was an extremely fun time! Below are some photos I took at the event:
