Roommate etiquette Posted on April 4, 2014 by Jackie Lok Survival Guide Living with others might be difficult, but it might be better with communication! Communicate about the house rules right after move-in to minimize future argument, such as getting the trash, cleaning the apartment/house, and schedule. Get each other’s contact information. Negotiate the room temperature. Be polite when you ask each other for things. Do not use things that do not belong to you without permission. Clean up your own mess. In general, be thoughtful and keep communicating. Don’t forget! The deadline for guaranteed housing for first-year students is May 1st, so get those applications in on time!
